Why families choose us

  • Washington State background-screened staff
  • Every role trained through our Ripple Method
  • Sliding-scale options discussed at intake

The need this addresses

Young people are frequently expected to manage rent, insurance, medical appointments, and a budget with no instruction in any of it. For those leaving foster care or moving toward supported independence, the gap between expectation and preparation is widest, and the consequences of a first mistake are the most severe.

What families can expect

  • A structured multi-week curriculum covering budgeting, housing, healthcare, and daily living.
  • A small cohort, so participants work alongside peers at a similar stage.
  • Practical exercises rather than instruction alone.
  • Materials the young person keeps and can return to afterwards.
  • Facilitators trained through Washington State requirements and our Ripple Method curriculum.

How it is delivered

Cohorts run quarterly in 3-month blocks, meeting once a week for 12 sessions per quarter, at a community meeting space in Whatcom County reserved for each series. Each cohort is capped at 7 participants, so facilitators know every young person by name and can adjust the pace to the group. Sessions are applied wherever possible, so participants complete an actual budget, work through a genuine lease, and practice arranging their own appointments rather than discussing these things in the abstract.

Intended outcomes

Participants leave able to perform the tasks the curriculum covers, and having met other young people at the same point. Those peer connections frequently outlast the workshop itself.

Services are privately funded. Flexible payment arrangements and sliding-scale options may be available, discussed during intake.
